Well, it's never dull around here. This (as in the board/chat) will be THE place to interact with Mark for the foreseeable future, most likely at least a month or two.

Without belaboring the issue and going into detail which really isn't appropriate, we have been back at KHITs post-cafe without a contract and unfortunately, that can't continue. When the RRC (cafe) is finalized, then hopefully KHITs and the radio sponsors and will be able to figure out a plan that will result in the arrangement we've agreed to.

We've had a great relationship with KHITs and mutually hope for that to continue.

In the interim, we aren't lacking in things to do (like all the things that slid due to the crazy year we had...lest you think we'll actually be vacationing Wink ), but one thing we won't be doing is driving 100 miles round trip on Saturday nights to the KOIN Tower.

We'll be the first to tell you about any updates, so we ask that you not drive Craig Adams or especially PD Dennis crazy w/phone calls about what's happening.

Thx!

I am SO sorry to hear this Frowner but certainly understand why it's happening. It's just that ya'll have spoiled us to Saturday nights listening to Mark. OK...so I'll just keep thinking positive...he WILL return, he WILL return....and in the meantime I can practice on getting my nerve up to actually CALL in a request instead of my cowardly e-questing. Wink

Some of us were just discussing call-ins to the show earlier today.

Wow, more changes in the Lindsay world....my head would be SPININ' if I had to go through that many changes in such a short time! Eeker

Of course, we're sorry and Frowner that we won't hear Mark on the radio right now, but trust that all will work out the way it is supposed to. Thanks for the info, Deb, and we'll continue to meet here and "keep the flame alive". Smiler

So sorry to hear the latest news.
I hope that it will soon be happily resolved.
That is quite a commute.Work is 64 miles round trip for me.I love being in the rural area, but it does have a big downside.

Very sorry to hear this Deb. One thing after another with you guys. I certainly hope you all come to a mutually happy arrangement soon. Saturday nights without the show are...different (OK really weird and not "normal")

Glad the board is here so we all feel in touch, and not "lost".

Oh goodness, I hope you can get things worked out. I'll miss hearing the show on Saturdays, but at least the board is back. Good luck to you both!

Having just returned from vacation and being snowed under with catch-up things to do, I would almost be willing to bet that there's a little relief involved with having the show on hiatus. Wink

That said, however, I do hope that all issues will be resolved to your satisfaction, all t's crossed and i's dotted, and .... and.... And we'll get to hear Mark on the radio again. Smiler

Well, I'm disappointed but not surprised, having worked for two small "tradio" stations in my 18-year broadcast career. My hope is the powers-that-be will take a look at the Saturday pm ratings and see a significant spike during the time Mark is on the air. That would encourage the station brass to dig into their pocketbook to give Team Lindsay the contract they deserve.

Radio (and much of transitional media) revenue is in steep decline and they've all been slow to change their business model to reflect the changes in listening/reading habits that have happened quite quickly.

Couple that with advertiser perception that people who listen to classic hits stations have one foot in the grave and are in the market for funeral services and not consumer goods, and it's a more difficult environment.

Then you throw in a tough economy where radio, as a "secondary buy", suffers more...

We're hopeful that they can figure something out, but in the meantime, we're thinking creatively.

I do not resemble that remark! I know so many younger folks that listen to 50s & 60s music. We happen to be the healthest and most active generation out there. Who buys more than the baby boomers. We invented it.

Sorry to hear the discord going on. Praying for what is best for all. Meaning the L's get what they want/deserve/desire.
