Apparently bad grrl Amy punched a fan and spit out her gum (oh my) at the crowd at a concert in Scotland last night.

Be safe and save gas too. Mark promises not to bite during chats! Razzer

Or spit his gum at us? Wink

I think Ms. Winehouse needs a keeper! Eeker She definitely needs someone to stand next to her and say, "No, no, dear." Razzer

Amy was supposed to perform at Hyde Park for Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebration...

Believe me, Amy is a hot topic on one of the Stones boards I frequent. She is really in denial. She's in such bad shape, her lungs are equal to those of a 70 year old man! And yet she continues to smoke ciggies and weed and take pills and drink profusely. I think she really thinks she's indestructable. She's 24. I hope she can get a handle on things before it's too late...Frowner

It happened at the Glastonbury Festival of all places! Erk. Interesting other bits here:

Sounds like she had a keeper though. At least someone to lead her back on to stage. Too many young and really messed up performers out there. What IS the younger generation coming to? Wink

Interesting note about Jay-Z. Though I don't like rap, it sounds like he has the spirit,at least more so than Ms.Winehouse

I saw film of what happened. Yeah, she was down in the crowd, trying to punch out a fan who had tried to grab her on stage. And yes, she had a "minder" who was at her side, holding on to her for most of the time. She never missed a beat, though. Sang through the whole thing.

How come no one is intervening or trying to help this young woman? Family, managers, friends -- anyone. I guess people keep paying to see her, in hopes that she will do somethig outrageous. It's all very sad, IMHO.

Oh, she's been in rehab {besides just singing about it}. She stayed awhile, but as soon as she was out, she was drinking again. Don't know about the drugs or ciggies...but smoking ANYTHING at this point will be crippling for her. She's at the point that she has to recognize that she NEEDS help, and actually TAKE it for a change. Hope she lives long enough to do that.

She has early symptoms of getting the disease. the doctors told her she had to stop smoking EVERYTHING, or she would get full blown emphysema. Yeah, she's 24....ONLY 24.

She just did a gig in Spain with glass of wine in hand. I suppose that's progress. What a sad spiral...someone needs to yank her chain NOW.

Check the link I posted above Wink It's about that glass of wine incident.

That's what I meant about why isn't anyone helping her? Sioux - I knew she had been in rehab, but it seems as if the people around her don't care as she gets away with all these things.

Like you said Deb -- "someone needs to yank her chain NOW."

You can lead someone to rehab - over and over and over again - but you can't make it "take." Until she is ready to be rehabilitated, they can lock her away all they want, and her behavior, once she gets out, isn't going to change. Frowner

They often talk the talk when they get out, but walking the walk isn't going to happen until they have their own personal epiphany.

Teri's right. There's only so much any of her loved ones can do---short of kidnapping her and holding her in a rehab center for a LONG time. She feels that she's invincible. A lot of young people feel that way. I'm just afraid that it's going to go too far before she really gets serious and down to business about getting clean.
